"Liar, liar, pants on fire. Your nose is longer than a telephone wire."

Superb lyrics. :-)

"Liar Liar Pants On Fire" is a playground taunt that children use to accuse another person or persons of lying ("fibbing"). The "pants on fire" phrase refers to a person's butt stinging from a spanking. Versons of this rhyme that refer to the liar's nose being longer than a telephone wire allude to the story of the wooden puppet Pinnochio whose nose grew in length every time he told a lie.

"Liar liar pants on fire" is also used by adults to signal that another person (particularly a politician) is lying or has been caught in a lie. An example of this is found in this comment:

" Liar, liar
Pants on fire
Nose as long as a telephone wire

We still recite this one - everytime we hear one of Bush's speeches."
Bev and Jerry, "I'm Rubber . You're Glue: Children's Rhymes", May 24, 2005

Often only one line of this rhyme is used by children as a schoolyard taunt or by adults as a political taunt. Examples of adults' use of one line of this taunt can be found on numerous political blogs, including comments to a post referencing the statements of the presumptive Republican USA Presidential candidate Mitt Romney regarding the date he left his business Bain Capitol:

"Liar Liar Pants on Fire...."

From (Holly, 2010)
"Liar, liar, pants on fire. Hangin’ on a telephone wire!” is a paraphrased version of the 1810 poem “The Liar” by William Blake.

Deceiver, dissembler
Your trousers are alight
From what pole or gallows
Shall they dangle in the night?

When I asked of your career
Why did you have to kick my rear
With that stinking lie of thine
Proclaiming that you owned a mine?

When you asked to borrow my stallion
To visit a nearby-moored galleon
How could I ever know that you
Intended only to turn him into glue?

What red devil of mendacity
Grips your soul with such tenacity?
Will one you cruelly shower with lies
Put a pistol ball between your eyes?

What infernal serpent
Has lent you his forked tongue?
From what pit of foul deceit
Are all these whoppers sprung?

Deceiver, dissembler
Your trousers are alight
From what pole or gallows
Do they dangle in the night?

[Italics added for me to highlight this verse]
